JUMP and LOOP! One day course

When? 14-16 June 2010. We give ourselves a 3 day window to maximise the chance of good conditions. We check the forecasts and call the day 24 hours in advance.

Where
West Wittering lies at the end of the A286 some 6 miles south of Chichester on the Sussex coast. It's a beautiful beach
offering a huge range of conditions to delight all standards.

What
It's an Improve your jumping, leading into the forward loop course.

The way to loop is loop is to treat it like any other manoeuvre. You build up to it and make sure you have all the pieces of the
jig-saw before trying to put it together. If you think the loop is still a long way off, it’s still worth coming as you’ll get to see
what’s involved and have a go at the training exercises. Most importantly you’ll improve your jumps and discover what kind of
jump makes the best platform from which to dip into one.”
For those who are nearly there, the cauldron atmosphere of the one day course often provides the focus and incentive to make you
finally pull that trigger

What happens?
We'll break down the move on dry land, demonstrating the rig action and getting a firm fix on what actually
causes the rotation.

We then time our water sessions with a friendly state of tide first working on jumps and getting the right position
in the air - before gritting the teeth and putting it all together.
I will share my time between sailing with, demonstrating, and screaming at you from in front and behind - and videoing your efforts.

The loop is more technical than people think. The tales of pain, woe and the supposed need for giant balls usually come
from people who are doing it wrong. I have a method and training exercises to lead you in gently and to help you
overcome the psychological hurdles. If you’re up for it, it is absolutely realistic, given a fair wind and the smallest
of ramps, to get round in a day.” Peter
