SLICKER CORNERS
West Wittering
- 6-7 Sept 10

A surprising number of very accomplished sailors do NOT have a sure-fire way of turning round which works whatever the situation.
If you do, your confidence and tactical options grow exponentially - and by falling in less, you stay upwind and save energy.

Whether looking to plane out of the carve gybes or get round any way any how, the fundamentals on or off the plane, remain the same. Having PH strip your moves down to their bare essentials not only helps you approach all corners with more time, space and knowledge but will have a positive effect on your whole sailing.

The gybe, especially the carving variety, may be the Holy Grail for many but the tack is equally challenging and arguably more useful.
Also people's obsession with the planing gybe makes them leap-frog the core-skills which are learned off the plane.
It's all going to be covered in this 2 day course On water sessions are mixed with dry-land practise and video-playback sessions..

West Witt's low tide lagoon, with its waist deep water and sandy bottom, matches Dahab's Baby Bay for training perfection.

The course will go ahead whatvever the wind.

gybe
Harty will unpick and re-assemble every aspect of your turning.

Where
West Wittering is the jewel in the crown of the south coast beaches. The estate lies at the end of the A286 some 6 miles south of
Chichester on the Sussex coast.

The Club
You will be the guests of 2XS and the West Wittering Windsurf Club. The facilities and beach set-up are spectacular. It sits
within an immense swathe of undeveloped coastal plane.
You rig up on grass. The clubhouse has tea cofee, wi-fi and classy piping hot showers.

The sailing area
The appeal of the sailing area is that it offers everything to everbody at different states of tide.
At low water, the sea retrets behind a sand bar to leave a silky smooth, waist-deep 'gybe-atorium.'
As the tide pushes, waves break on the banks and the more accomplished can strut their aerial stuff.
